Overview

Michael Groh has represented numerous employees in all aspects of employment law.

Associate Attorney Michael Groh was first drawn to the issue of employees’ rights as an undergraduate student at the University of Delaware when he participated in a mock court case involving sex discrimination in the workplace.  Mr. Groh continued to cultivate his interest in employment law while pursuing his J.D. at the George Washington University Law School, serving as a law clerk at a boutique plaintiff’s side law firm specializing in employment discrimination class actions, and providing pro bono legal representation to low-income clients while serving as a student attorney with the Public Justice Advocacy Clinic.  Prior to joining the Murphy Law Group, Mr. Groh served as a legal consultant with the Criminal Justice Section of the American Bar Association, where he contributed to the ABA’s efforts to reform the extensive system of often illogical civil disqualifications which prevent individuals from finding employment and reintegrating into society after being convicted of a criminal offense.

Since he joined the firm in March 2014, Mr. Groh has represented numerous employees in all aspects of employment law, including claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the National Labor Relations Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance, Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, and the New Jersey Conscientious Employee Protection Act.

Mr. Groh also has considerable experience litigating individual and collective/class action wage and hour-related claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law.  Together with Murphy Law Group’s Founding Member, Michael Murphy, Mr. Groh has served as Class Counsel in several major wage theft class actions, resulting in the recovery of millions of dollars of unlawfully denied wages and overtime compensation.

Mr. Groh is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, as well as the United States District Courts for the District of New Jersey, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Groh was born and raised in Moorestown, New Jersey, and currently resides in Philadelphia.
